indirecta. Finalmente, la dicultad para estimar la
responsabilidad de los médicos en formación en los
ESP radica en que, por su carácter de estudiantes, no
poseen responsabilidad directa sobre los pacientes,
lo que podría contribuir a un subregistro de eventos
relacionados con su gestión.
CONCLUSIONES
Se caracterizaron los ESP en los que se encuentra
involucrada la gestión del médico en formación,
incluyendo la naturaleza de los eventos y sus
causas. Entre los hallazgos se destacan errores
relacionados con las destrezas clínicas de los
estudiantes que parten desde la prescripción

de indicaciones médicas hasta procedimientos clínicos
menores como la colocación de dispositivos médicos o la
toma de muestras biológicas, que pueden generar eventos
con diferente grado de impacto para los pacientes, por
ello la formación en las universidades y posteriormente la
educación médica continua son base para llegar a la meta
del daño cero. Adicionalmente, tras el análisis de causas
raíz se evidenciaron diferentes factores que sugieren la
necesidad de investigaciones posteriores que caractericen
a profundidad el rol de los médicos en formación en los
ESP, considerando la integración de factores humanos en
un sistema sanitario complejo.
